Studying English at the age of 5-7 years old

By the age of 5-7 years old children complete the process of developing speech and motor functions in their body and start developingkinder19_ logical thinking.

At this age children feel the need and desire for communication and the need to express themselves the same way adults feel. At this age and particularly at 6 and 7 years old children start actively pay interest in the meaning of the words trying to expand their vocabulary and in general develop conscious urge for learning. If children by this age had a sufficient English background they would communicate with their peers in English the same way they speak in Russian. And this is exactly the need that EnglishKid is trying to satisfy realizing that a kid at this age enters most highly interactive part of their life. And it is important that a kid is equipped with all the “tools” necessary to express their thoughts in English by this time.

Besides, the age of 6-7 years old is an excellent time to start introducing grammar fundamentals to a child. Simple structures are being replaced with tenses which allow a child to be more precise in different life situations and formulate their thoughts in order to be understood in the circumstances which life can offer.


Studying English at the age 8-10 years old

A child has matured enough to be able to learn more complex vocabulary, and grammar which requires more mature state of mind.kinder18_ At this age the vocabulary is extended so that to include more complex terms and lexical structures which require conscious memorizing. Counting up to 100 is extended by adding such functions as simple subtraction, division, addition and multiplication. At this age a child learns such lexical structures in the English language as “used to”, “be about doing sth”, “would rather”, “it’s time that....” etc.

Due to the fact that children in our school study with native speakers from earlier years, they learn commonly used and widely spread expressions and collocations of the English language much earlier than other children in public schools. These are just the examples of such collocations “hold against”, “hold with”, “look after”, “take after”, “come down”, “come across”, “pull off”, “break out”, “get away with”, “get together” and other. Why to put off what can be learned now?

Studying English at the age of 10-12 years old

It is about time to get down to grammar. A child learns all commonly used tenses and vital grammar rules. A child also learns geography and abstract ideas and notions. A child learns more complex vocabulary which he or she will be using in his or her later adult day to day and business life.
